Cheaters monopoly rules4/7/2024 I wasn't the only one in this, as all the other players beside M never thought to seriously attempt to steal money from the bank after the Cheat goal card had been claimed. Complete a cheat to get a reward, but fail a cheat and pay the consequences. Due to the vagueness of the rules (Which I found to be a problem pervading the entire game), on my own I assumed that all normal rules applying to the normal Monopoly game would also be in effect for the Cheaters Edition unless specifically otherwise stated. Fake a die roll, steal some bills from the bank, and even skip out on rent. Nowhere in the rules does it explicitly state players are allowed to normally cheat/steal from the bank, but at the same time it is never explicitly barred either. Which as I said, had already been claimed by a different player early in the game. I refute this, saying that stealing from the bank should only be a "legal" cheat when the specific goal card for it is on the table. They even point out a line of dialogue in the instructions to the effect of, "Since the Bank changes hands between players as they go in turn order, be sure to watch out for sticky fingers." M believes this is perfectly fine because as it is the Cheater's Edition, players are automatically told to cheat however they can. M then reveals they had secretly been stealing 500 bills from the Bank whenever it came around to their turn and the rest of the table was distracted by other things. My dilemma is that at the end of the game a different player, let's call them M, had over 5000 dollars in net worth while the closest player after them only had a bit more than 2000. One of which is to successfully steal money from the Bank, which one of the players managed to pull off and claim the reward for just a few rounds into our game. As I understood from reading the rules going into the game, players are in fact encouraged to cheat, but only when there are goal cards on the board specifying the cheats to be attempted. I recently bought Cheaters Monopoly and tried it out for the first time with family, five players in total.
